Extreme weather is now common weather. This is hurting economies, businesses, and real humans. The need for accurate long-range weather forecasts has never been more critical.

We're weather nerds. A team of climate scientists and AI engineers spun off from the Climate Extremes research group at the Institute for Environmental Studies of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. We combine the power of AI and climate science to make reliable weather forecasts, weeks and even months ahead, that allow governments, NGOs, businesses, and people worldwide to strengthen their climate resilience, saving money, resources, and lives.

Science is at the core of our identity. We deliver relevant insights that have a real-world impact.  We're looking for a bright Front-ender to join our team and work with us to transform complex weather data into meaningful visualizations and insights.

Job Description

As a Junior Front-End Developer at Beyond Weather, you’ll work with our climate scientists and AI engineers to create responsive, intuitive, and visually appealing interfaces that empower our users to access, interpret, and act on the information they need.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain user interfaces for aweather data applications, focusing on clean, efficient code.

Collaborate with designers to bring UI/UX wireframes and mockups to life with pixel-perfect accuracy.

Implement and optimize data visualizations (charts, graphs, maps) to display real-time and historical weather information.

Troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues, ensuring a smooth user experience.

Collaborate with backend developers to improve integration between frontend and backend systems.

Requirements

Proven Experience: experience in front-end development and integration with backend cloud platforms such as Google Cloud using serverless functions

Professional Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in an international, collaborative team environment.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in React, and front-end frameworks such as  Tailwind

Data Visualization: Experience with geospatial data visualization libraries like Mapbox

UI/UX Sensitivity: Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and ability to implement responsive, accessible design.

Tools: Familiarity with Vercel, Git, Linear, etc.
