The Role

This position is one of several hires, as we strengthen and expand our team. We are hiring a Data Engineer who loves making data systems accessible and actionable, to design and optimise the infrastructure that powers large-scale AI model training and weather data processing.

You will build the backbone that enables fast GPU training, efficient data pipelines, and scalable deployment for both internal research and client environments.

What you will do:

Design and maintain infrastructure for large scale GPU training

Build and optimise data pipelines for massive weather datasets

Manage cloud compute environments for internal use and client deployments

Optimise storage, I/O, and memory performance

Collaborate closely with AI researchers to remove infrastructure bottlenecks

Build systems that scale with growing data and compute demands

What we are looking for

Strong software engineering experience in data-intensive systems

Experience supporting AI model training on GPUs

Understanding of high-performance data processing and parallelisation

Solid Python skills

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

Familiarity with cloud optimised scientific data formats such as Zarr and optimised backends such as Icechunk is a plus

Collaborative mindset and strong sense of ownership

Based in the Netherlands and available at least 3 days per week in the office
