Beyond Weather selected for €2.5M funding from the EIC

The European Innovation Council (EIC) has selected Beyond Weather to receive up to €2.5M in funding through its EIC Transition programme, choosing them as one of just 40 projects out of more than 600 applications. That 6.7% acceptance rate puts project TAILOR in the company of Europe's most rigorously vetted deep-tech initiatives.
The funding backs a programme focused on fine-tuning AI foundation models for client-tailored long-range weather forecasts, built for energy companies and other industries where weather volatility directly drives operational and financial risk.

Weather-related losses have cost the global economy over $2 trillion in the past decade alone (source). For industries where operational decisions are made weeks or months in advance (energy, commodities, agriculture), the ability to forecast reliably beyond the standard two-week window is not a nice-to-have. About project TAILOR
TAILOR stands for Fine-Tuning AI Foundation Models for Client-Tailored Long-Range Weather Forecasts. The project is coordinated by Beyond Weather and runs for 30 months.
The project focuses on:
- Developing fine-tuning methods for AI foundation models for long-range weather forecasting
- Serving energy companies with models tailored to their specific operational context
- Developing fine-tuning services for energy companies
The EIC Transition programme is part of the European Commission's Horizon Europe framework and supports innovations that bridge the gap between research and market-ready solutions. Being selected reinforces the scientific credibility and commercial relevance of Beyond Weather's approach.
